Matías Tigre returns with his brand new single “Nunca es Tarde”, an irresistibly catchy song that takes a turn toward Latin soft pop. Beautiful, melodic, and full of hope, it moves away from the extravagant and dives into something more intimate.
In this exclusive and unfiltered interview for Malo Records, Matías Tigre opens up about how his creative process often leads him to self-discovery—and what we can expect from this new chapter in his musical journey.
Hit play on “Nunca es Tarde” for the full reading experience.
“It’s never too late to fall in love, never too late to start a project… nunca es tarde—that’s the truth.”

— Tell us about your new release, Nunca es Tarde. What inspired the song? Was it love, a past experience, a reflection? Let’s spice it up a little.
To be honest, when I make music, I don’t overthink it—I won’t lie to you. I just sit down and start doing stuff. Then suddenly, I’ve written a verse or a bridge or a chorus, and I’m like, damn, what is this? That’s how it’s always been with my music. A good example is Un Amor, the song where I sing “Cristo, ayuda.” Thing is, I didn’t really want to ask Christ for help… I mean, I don’t believe in Christ or the Catholic religion or anything like that. But the line felt interesting, the lyrics worked, and I thought someone who does believe might connect with it in a different way. So I left it in.
Same thing happened with Nunca es Tarde. Honestly, I wasn’t thinking about anything except making a smooth melody and lyrics that meant something. And that meaning, for me, is just that—it’s never too late. Never too late to fall in love, never too late to start something new. That’s really the message I hoped would stick as the song took shape.
Even though the song has this romantic tone… it also feels like a kind of inner longing—maybe my own. When it comes to art, I like keeping that element of surprise. Like, “Whoa, what is this and why did I sing it?” I don’t even know why I sang it, but I did. And I like that—maybe it’s my subconscious expressing something I haven’t consciously figured out yet.

— Should we expect more songs soon? Is this the start of a new phase or personal/musical evolution for Matías Tigre?
I’m experimenting with new shades, new sounds… but honestly, I’m still me. It’s more like I’m discovering myself rather than changing who I am. And yeah, I’ll keep making music that’s as creative and original as I can, because that’s what truly drives me. More than making music for something in particular.
Obviously, we all want to be heard. But I’ve never—and don’t plan to—let people’s tastes dictate what I write. I make music because I love it, whether people like it or not. Sure, over time you start to polish things, you learn certain structures, become friends with some and not so much with others. I think pop structure is great: it’s simple, quick, there’s no time to overthink. Short verses, strong melodies. That’s something I’m leaning into a bit more now. I guess it was already there before—but now it’s more intentional.
— Any live shows coming up?
No confirmed dates yet, but it’s happening. I’m eager to put together something beautiful and real to play these songs live. So stay tuned—once dates are set, I’ll share them.

Don’t miss what’s coming next from Matías Tigre!
