FRESH DROP! "LOCURA" BY SONDOS

Sondos is an emerging Chilean indie pop duo made up of two lifelong friends, Santiago Castro and Guillermo Ponce , who have always shared a passion for music. Since they were kids, they went to every concert together and both played instruments, but they had never coordinated to create their own project—until the pandemic hit.

"One day I wrote to Guille: Why have we never done this? Let's get together and see what happens. That's when we started getting together to learn how to produce our music and write songs. In 2021, we got more serious about the subject and looked for a way to bring this to light. That's when we got together with Cuco Errazuriz, who was our first producer, and Juan Jarpa. They helped us get the Sondos project off the ground ." - SC

Currently, this duo is producing new songs with Pipe Aburto, music producer for Malo Records . These songs are part of a second phase of their project, where Sondos aims to define their unique sound. The new single, "Locura," guides them toward the musical identity they've been searching for, inspired by 1980s Latin music with elements of the new indie genre.

"Our inspiration was always to try to revitalize the Latin scene by mixing it with indie music. (...) We wanted to go a little in the other direction, in a boom where Chilean music was being very much guided by urban music and nothing, doing what we liked in the end, without anyone telling us how it had to be done, or what we had to do" - SC

"Locura" is part of a possible new album by Sondos, and the duo tells us that before the end of the year they will have released a couple more songs that they are preparing with their producer.

"The song 'Locura' comes from a staging where one is faced with a problem, like a relationship, and one always knows that it is a back and forth, that there are two sides, but there is the frustration of when one is faced with this relationship breaking down and one is able to realize the things one has done wrong and the other person is not. It is the frustration of seeing how it collapses, seeing that one rows forward and one rows back; and in the end this leaves you a little stuck, without being able to move forward" - SC
